Mipmap Digital brings HEAT: Pedal to the Metal to PC with Linux support

The Croatian studio announced an official digital adaptation at SPIEL 2026, including the Legends expansion free from launch and cross-platform online multiplayer.

Mipmap Digital has announced an official digital adaptation of the board game HEAT: Pedal to the Metal, revealed at SPIEL 2026. The project is in development at the Croatian studio, and the developers told GamingOnLinux that the game will have full Linux support.

The adaptation includes 3D recreations of four circuits — USA, France, Great Britain and Italy. It offers solo play against Legends, local custom races against friends, and championships featuring garage upgrades, sponsorships, weather and road conditions. Cross-platform online multiplayer with private lobbies and matchmaking is planned.

The Legends expansion will be included free from day one, and Mipmap Digital says more official expansions are planned after launch.

Licensing talks began at SPIEL 2024

Mipmap Digital CEO and co-founder Joško Mikuličić said the studio first approached Asmodee at SPIEL 2024 about bringing HEAT to digital. According to the background supplied, that first contact came before SPIEL 2024, and the studio met Days of Wonder at the show to make its interest clear; a year later, with the licensing agreement signed, work on the official adaptation began.

Christian Dunn, Interactive Licensing Manager at Asmodee, said the company is collaborating with Mipmap Digital on the adaptation. The original board game was designed by Asger Granerud and Daniel Pedersen and is published by Days of Wonder, with Asmodee handling licensing. It is set in 1960s motorsport.
