Jagex Cancels RuneScape Reignited Soft-Reset After Player Criticism
Jagex has scrapped RuneScape Reignited, its soft-reset plan for the MMO, and confirmed a 10-day free trial from December 2 to December 12.
Jagex has cancelled RuneScape Reignited, the plan to soft-reset the RuneScape MMO with forked servers featuring fresh economies and characters, according to gamesradar.com. The decision follows widespread criticism from players.
In a blog post, associate creative director Mod Ryan said Jagex missed the mark and will not move forward with Reignited. The rest of the RuneScape 2027 roadmap remains unchanged.
Jagex will still open a 10-day free trial from December 2 to December 12. It lets new characters, or characters not in membership since June 2, access RuneScape Members worlds and content.
Background
Jagex had recently apologized for neglecting players and said it would pause and revisit the Reignited idea. In November 2012, the Evolution of Combat update dramatically changed RuneScape's skill system, causing many players to quit and ultimately splitting the game into Old School RuneScape and RuneScape 3. RuneScape 4 was recently announced.
