Kakure Oni Demo Adds Second Oni Kuchisake on October 20

The asymmetric horror game's demo gains the charging oni Kuchisake, and the title joins Steam Next Fest from October 20 to October 27.

The demo for the asymmetric multiplayer horror game Kakure Oni will add a second oni character, Kuchisake, on October 20, according to 4gamer.net. The game will also take part in Steam Next Fest, which runs from 2:00 on October 20 to 2:00 on October 27.

Kuchisake uses an oni technique called Daitotsuki, charging in the direction it faces and catching every child in its path. With the addition, the oni side can choose between Kakure Oni and Kuchisake. Kakure Oni approaches from blind spots using the ceiling, while Kuchisake's strength is mobility through charging.

Players on the children's side must change how they flee depending on which oni the opponent picks. In a match, four children face one oni, and each round lasts three minutes; the children aim to escape while the oni tries to catch everyone.

The children's side can use Kage Kakushi to disappear in darkness, talk with allies via transceiver and share the oni's position with pins, though the oni can overhear conversations when nearby. As time passes, the oni's miasma strengthens and ghosts in the map increase.

The currently available demo can be played by up to five people on an abandoned school map, with CPU players joining if there are not enough players. Medals collected in the map can be exchanged for costume items for the child characters and items for commemorative photos.
