The Mooncrow is a flying Monstrosity that uses illusions. According to the design, it is built to exploit the weaknesses of a level 5 party.
The creature has a Challenge Rating of 1 or 2 and hunts in flocks of two or three.
Ammann is the author of The Monsters Know What They're Doing, a guide that helps Dungeon Masters prepare combat encounters. An expanded and revised edition of that book, Remonstered!, is coming out on Oct. 6.
His previous book, Making Enemies, is a guide for designing custom monsters.
