Konami ends free mobile Castlevania giveaway on October 24
The original Famicom version is free on iOS and Android until 23:59 on October 24; games downloaded during the period stay playable afterwards.
Konami Digital Entertainment has announced that the free mobile distribution of the original Castlevania ends on October 24 at 23:59, according to gamespark.jp. The giveaway covers the Famicom (ROM cartridge) version of the game on iOS via the App Store and on Android via Google Play.
The free download will be available only during the campaign window. Players who download the game before the deadline will still be able to play it after the giveaway closes, the company said.
The mobile release includes the Easy Mode that was added to the ROM cartridge version, along with a save feature that was left out of the Disk System edition at the time.
The giveaway was held to mark the release of the latest entry in the series, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, and the franchise's 40th anniversary.
