Krafton ends development of PUBG: Black Budget

Krafton has cancelled its extraction shooter spin-off PUBG: Black Budget, saying its direction would not deliver a long-term experience for players.

Krafton has announced it is ending development of PUBG: Black Budget, the extraction shooter spin-off set in the PUBG universe. The decision followed an internal review of the project's development status and future direction, the company said.

In its statement, Krafton explained that the game's current direction would not deliver an experience players could enjoy over the long term. The company also thanked participants of the closed alpha tests for their feedback.

Black Budget was first revealed in November 2025, though it had been spotted earlier in a 2023 Krafton financial report. At that time, Krafton said it was aiming to release the game in the second half of 2024. Its most recent and biggest closed test took place in June.

The cancellation is the second high-profile setback for Krafton's PUBG spin-off strategy this year. PUBG: Blindspot was cancelled in March after just two months in early access. Meanwhile, PUBG: Ded.Net was announced at gamescom in August.

Eurogamer reported the news.
