Mad Mimic reveals Super Tacky Astro Ranger - S.T.A.R., targets mid-2027
Brazilian studio Mad Mimic detailed its colorful roguelike for Steam, a project that began in April 2025 and may launch in mid-2027.
Mad Mimic has shared new details about Super Tacky Astro Ranger - S.T.A.R., a roguelike it is developing for PC, with a possible release in mid-2027, according to 4gamer.net. The game follows Astro Ranger, who sees himself as the coolest hero in the galaxy.
Its story centers on rescuing a god kidnapped from the Blorb species and defeating the Morg leader in order to escape. The S.T.A.R. abbreviation is re-read with different phrases, among them "Seriously Tough Action Roguelike." The studio plans multiple weapons and combinable skills called relics, with rewards changing on each run.
Mad Mimic is aiming for a bright, colorful tone inspired by Power Rangers. A Steam store page is already open with wishlist support; the game is listed for Windows only, with Japanese supported and Brazilian Portuguese voice only. Console versions are planned, but details have not been disclosed.
The publisher has not been decided. Mad Mimic is looking for a partner mainly for marketing, especially in Asia. A new trailer is planned for around November to December.
Development began in April 2025, with full production from September 2025 by a team of 16, and work is scheduled to finish by December 2026. The studio has about 30 employees and has made games since 2016, after starting out as a software company. Its previous original titles include No Heroes Here (2017), Mônica e a Guarda dos Coelhos, Dandy Ace — published by NEOWIZ and its best-selling title — and Mark of the Deep and No Heroes Here 2, both released in 2025. A horror game is planned for 2028.
