Fan Mod Restores Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer to Legendary Edition

The mod by developer PayDay ships with all 19 multiplayer maps, 66 playable characters and the four enemy factions at launch.

A fan-made mod developed by a modder known as PayDay restores the full multiplayer mode of Mass Effect 3 to Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, according to screenrant.com. The mod arrives with all 19 multiplayer maps and all 66 playable characters available at launch.

The restoration also brings back the four enemy factions, along with the multiplayer store, unlocks, promotional items and legacy reward packs. Weapon mods, voice chat and challenges are included as well.

Event banners, leaderboards and seasonal events return on their original dates, the outlet reported.

Why multiplayer was absent in the first place

In 2021, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition project director Mac Walters told GameInformer that adding multiplayer to the remaster was very difficult and would have required another large chunk of work, including online systems, crossplay and post-launch support.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition was released on May 14, 2021, developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts.
