Minecraft Snapshot 26.4 Adds Jukebox Playlist and Brittle Ice

Mojang Studios released the Minecraft Java Edition snapshot '26.4 Snapshot 4', adding a jukebox playlist feature and a new block called 'Brittle Ice', according to gamespark.jp. The snapshot is available through the Minecraft Launcher.

The jukebox playlist feature lets players place a single chest directly above a jukebox so the records inside play in order. Trap chests and copper chests also work. Playback follows slot order, skipping empty slots and non-record items, and loops back to the start after the last record. When one record finishes, the record in the jukebox is swapped for the next one in the chest. Removing the playing record skips to the next song, and if the chest has no records, the jukebox's own record repeats.

Brittle Ice generates naturally only as part of crevasses in the Ice Caves underground biome. It cracks when a player or mob stands on it and eventually breaks, though Frostbite, a new zombie variant, can walk on it without breaking it. The block can be collected with Silk Touch and is created when water flows into blue ice blocks. The snapshot also adds dedicated sound effects for ice-related blocks.

Zombies, Drowned and Husks no longer take damage from freezing in this snapshot.

The Ice Caves and related features were announced at 'Minecraft LIVE' in September 2026. Previous snapshots introduced the Ice Caves, the Frostbite zombie variant, ice snowballs, ice crystals, icicles and freezing potions for the Holiday Drop. These new features are being tested for the Holiday Drop, the final game drop of 2026.
