Minior debuts in Pokemon GO and is immediately banned from Tournament play
The new Pokemon arrived during the Orionid meteor shower and can be caught each evening until October 24, according to Game Rant.
Minior made its debut in Pokemon GO this week, arriving alongside the Orionid meteor shower in the early hours of October 21, and was banned from competitive Tournament play at the same time. According to Game Rant, a Tuesday update to the banned Pokemon list added Minior, and no official reason was given for the restriction.
The ban applies to Tournament play only. Minior remains legal in the GBL, where its two forms behave differently in battle.
In its meteor form, Minior has 194 defense and 116 attack. Once its HP drops below 50%, its core is exposed, switching to 218 attack and 131 defense.
Players can catch Minior every evening from 5pm to 9pm local time until October 24. Form changing is currently available only in Team GO Rocket encounters, GBL and Trainer battles.
Other Pokemon and upcoming events
Mimikyu was previously banned from Pokemon GO Tournament play for a while after its debut and has since been unbanned. Minior's later appearances will be tied to future meteor showers, including the Leonids in mid-November and the Geminids in mid-December. The Pokemon Latin American International Championships take place next month.
