Activision has announced Collateral, a new game mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 that draws directly from Counter-Strike's Bomb Defusal format. The mode is a more restrictive version of Search and Destroy, built around an in-game cash economy.
In Collateral, every player starts with the same amount of money and a pistol. Pre-made loadouts are disabled, and weapons and equipment are lost on death — though any cash earned is kept. Automatic health regeneration, respawning, and Killstreaks are all switched off. The UAV is the only Killstreak available, and it must be bought as a team. Perks are limited and require cash to purchase.
The announcement appeared near the end of a blog post focused on the PC version of Modern Warfare 4, as reported by Eurogamer.
In the same week, Activision also announced a skin off toggle for Warzone and changes to double XP tokens so they count down while in a match.
