Modern Warfare 4 DMZ trailers spark Single Squad mode debate

A week of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ reveals left players debating an unlabelled Single Squad Mission option seen in From the Ward footage.

Call of Duty has begun a week of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ news, giving a first look at the action extraction mode. Episode seven of From the Ward centred on DMZ and showed a deployment screen with four options, one of which was listed as Single Squad Mission, according to Eurogamer.

A DMZ Dynamic Ops trailer released one day later showed the same deployment screen, but without the Single Squad option. The difference between the two showings has left players debating whether the unlabelled entry points to a PvE-only mode.

No explanation of the option has been given by Infinity Ward or Call of Duty, and the mode's structure beyond the extraction format has not been detailed.

DMZ is part of Modern Warfare 4 and is available at its launch on 23 October 2026 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2.

Other recent changes

In the weeks before the DMZ reveals, Infinity Ward added a skin toggle in Warzone and changed double XP tokens to count down in-match.
