Modern Warfare 4 Opens With 227,434 Steam Players

The Call of Duty launch weekend peak trails Black Ops 6's roughly 306,460 but sits well above Black Ops 7, per SteamDB figures.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 peaked at 227,434 concurrent players on Steam during its launch weekend, according to SteamDB figures reported by gamerant.com.

The Infinity Ward-developed shooter, published by Activision, arrived on October 23, 2026. Its peak leaves it roughly 79,000 concurrent players short of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which reached about 306,460 around its October 2024 release — a gap of about 26%.

Modern Warfare 4 is nonetheless far ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which drew roughly 100,000 concurrent Steam users during its launch weekend in 2025.

On Steam, the game currently holds a Very Positive rating, with 80% of English-language reviews recommending it. During early access, its campaign briefly reached 94% positive reviews.

A separate purchase

Activision has confirmed that Modern Warfare 4 requires a separate purchase and will not join Game Pass until Holiday 2027. Black Ops 6, by contrast, launched directly on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass in October 2024, when the service still offered release-day Call of Duty titles.
