Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Credits Honor Vince Zampella
The Infinity Ward co-founder, who died in a car accident in December 2025, is remembered in a post-campaign "In Memoriam" card shared online by Geoff Keighley.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 carries a tribute to the late Infinity Ward co-founder Vince Zampella in its post-campaign credits, according to gamerant.com. The card reads "In Memoriam — Vince Zampella" and appears once the campaign has been completed.
Game Awards founder Geoff Keighley shared the tribute on social media, bringing the credits card to a wider audience beyond players who had finished the campaign.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, and it released on October 23, 2026.
Zampella co-founded Infinity Ward in May 2002 with Grant Collier and Jason West, after the trio left EA following work on Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. At Activision he worked on the first Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Months after Modern Warfare 2 launched, Zampella and West were fired from Activision and sued for wrongful termination; after a three-year legal battle, Activision settled for an undisclosed amount. During the dispute the pair founded Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Titanfall, Apex Legends and the Star Wars Jedi games. In January 2020 EA tasked Zampella with leading DICE, and in 2021 he was put in charge of the Battlefield franchise. Battlefield 6 released in October 2025, two months before his death.
Zampella died in a car accident in December 2025. Shortly after his passing was confirmed, the Infinity Ward Twitter account posted a tribute saying he "will always have a special place in our history."
