Molyneux believes a Black & White remaster is in development
The series creator said in an interview with PC Gamer that he thinks work is underway, but that it would be inappropriate for him to discuss it.
Peter Molyneux, the designer behind the Black & White series, said he believes people are working on a remaster of the original game, in an interview with PC Gamer. He did not say who he understood to be making it, and noted it would be inappropriate for him to talk about the project.
Molyneux also ruled out a direct continuation of the series in the near term, citing how the rights are divided. He said Black & White 3 is unlikely because EA holds the rights to it, while Microsoft holds the rights to Black & White 4. His own studio, 22cans, does not own the rights to the series, he added.
Rights split across publishers
In the same interview, Molyneux said it has taken 27 years to reach this point with the series. His current project is Masters of Albion, which recently drew criticism for running a closed beta despite already being available in early access.
The comments were reported by Rock Paper Shotgun from the PC Gamer interview.
