Magic: The Gathering Star Trek decks add Battlefront and Seek Out
Wizards of the Coast detailed the two new Commander mechanics ahead of the four Star Trek decks' November 13 release.
Wizards of the Coast has revealed two Commander-specific mechanics, Battlefront and Seek Out, for the Magic: The Gathering Star Trek Universes Beyond Commander decks, which release on November 13.
Battlefront appears in the Klingon Fury Commander deck and triggers based on the number of opponents attacked this turn. The deck is led by Worf, Defiant Commander, a 3/4 Klingon warrior officer whose Battlefront ability exiles the top X cards of the library after he attacks, where X is the number of opponents attacked.
Seek Out triggers whenever a player draws their second card each turn. Jean-Luc Picard, Luminary uses it to put a +1/+1 counter on a creature and two charge counters on a spacecraft, and also draws a card whenever a historic permanent with mana value three or greater enters play.
The Borg Queen leads an Esper deck built around the Assimilate mechanic. Locutus of Borg is a 3/3 with lifelink that gives artifact creatures the ability to create a 1/1 Borg token on combat damage to a player, while Join the Collective destroys all creatures and creates a Borg token for every nonartifact creature removed.
Commander Spock rounds out the lineup as a 3/5 Vulcan human scientist with a Strange New Worlds ability. Polygon reported the details.
