Nvidia adds DLSS 5 Neural Rendering to Portal with RTX and Half-Life 2 RTX demo

Portal with RTX got the update on October 21, 2026, and the Half-Life 2 RTX demo followed on October 23, with support for up to 6X Multi Frame Generation.

Nvidia has released DLSS 5 updates with 3D-Guided Neural Rendering for Portal with RTX and the Half-Life 2 RTX demo, according to wccftech.com. Portal with RTX received the update on October 21, 2026, and the Half-Life 2 RTX demo followed on October 23, 2026.

The updated builds support up to 6X Multi Frame Generation on compatible GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs. 3D-Guided Neural Rendering is off by default and is enabled through the RTX Remix overlay by pressing Alt + X.

The Portal with RTX update also adds DLSS Frame Generation Performance Mode (Preset C), 5X and 6X Multi Frame Generation, and native Windows on ARM support. The Half-Life 2 RTX demo update includes DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution using Preset F. Frame Generation Preset C supports RTX 40 Series GPUs, while 5X and 6X Multi Frame Generation require compatible RTX 50 Series hardware.

DLSS 5 Neural Rendering support is limited to GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs and RTX Spark hardware. The DLSS 5 update applies to the Half-Life 2 RTX demo rather than the full remaster, which is still in development at Orbifold Studios. Nvidia representative Jacob Freeman showcased the update on X.

Modder controls expanded

RTX Remix gained artistic controls that let modders choose Neural Rendering models, adjust intensity, and exclude objects or materials from AI enhancements. In September 2026, Nvidia shipped the initial DLSS 5 implementation, which the new optimized model reportedly doubles in execution performance.
