Old School RuneScape adds permadeath hardcore mode
Jagex launched a hardcore realm type for Old School RuneScape on PC, iOS and Android, where dying means a full reset or a move to the main game.
Jagex has announced a hardcore mode for Old School RuneScape and made it available as a new realm type on PC, iOS and Android starting today, according to Kotaku.
In hardcore mode, players get one life. A character that dies cannot simply respawn, and the player must start over with a new character.
Death in the mode brings the Grim Reaper, who offers two options: a full reset back to level 1, or moving the character over to the main game. Items that would not normally be kept on death are lost if the character leaves hardcore mode.
The mode follows a similar idea already seen on hardcore servers in World of Warcraft: Classic, which were added in 2023. Hardcore servers are also planned for World of Warcraft: Forever sometime after its launch, which is also set for November 4.
