Owlcat Games Backs Mass Effect Fan Petition

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn's social account shared the petition and said the campaign has the studio's full support.

Owlcat Games has publicly declared its support for the fan campaign to save Mass Effect. The social media account for the studio's game The Expanse: Osiris Reborn shared a fan petition to save the franchise, stating that the campaign has the studio's full support, according to gamesradar.com.

The petition has gathered over 210,000 signatures. A trailer for a game titled Mass Effect Universe was also leaked.

The campaign follows the announcement last week that BioWare is closing down and that development on the next Mass Effect game has been cancelled.

Romain Toutain, technical director on Mass Effect 5, recently said a revival is unlikely, claiming that EA never sells anything and instead shuts projects down and sits on its licenses. American McGee has previously said EA has no desire to see the Alice franchise continued.

The Expanse itself debuted on Syfy in 2015 and, after its cancellation and a fan outcry, was picked up by Amazon Prime Video for its final three seasons.
