Early access to launch
Path of Exile 2 entered early access on December 6, 2024, and required a $30 buy-in through a Supporter Pack. The 0.5.5 patch introduced Forbidden Rites, an event league with a fresh economy that launched on September 4 and runs alongside the existing Runes of Aldur league.
Grinding Gear first announced Path of Exile 2 at ExileCon in November 2019, when it was planned as a new seven-act storyline offered alongside the original campaign within Path of Exile itself. At ExileCon 2023, the studio revealed the shift to a standalone sequel. Path of Exile 2 is the direct sequel to the 2013 original.
