Path of Exile 3.30 Covens of Umbra launches one week after Exilecon reveal

Grinding Gear Games revealed Path of Exile 3.30, titled Covens of Umbra, at Exilecon 2026, with the update launching one week after the announcement, according to PCGamesN. The league centers on a centuries-old conflict between the Witches of Umbra.

The Covens of Umbra league allows players to steal power from witchy rites to invoke multiple fates that increase the challenge and rewards of major boss battles. Players can combine up to three fates for a single fight, and duplicate fates stack to boost their effects. The Wickerman object lets players bind their character's soul to it and infuse trophies such as limbs from fate-enhanced enemies to gain buffs. Up to four trophies (head, body, arm, leg) can be impaled in the Wickerman, with three tiers of rarity and potency. Grim Fates are boss-specific modifier variants stored in a slot on the Wickerman; defeating fate-empowered pinnacle bosses yields viscera trophies with some of the league's strongest buffs.

Grinding Gear Games rearranged campaign zone layouts where necessary to ensure players encounter area bosses, and added over two dozen new bosses across the campaign. The Mirage mechanic, introduced with the 3.28 league, is going core in 3.30. The update also includes a loot rework reducing item quantity spam and increasing valuable rewards.

The Atlas map now has colored regions that determine which mechanics players encounter, with stacking effects across multiple maps in a zone. Blight gains new modifiers including Mycotic lanes, more diseased Blight cores, and lanes populated with Rogue Exiles carrying uniques. Ritual gains the option to invite the gaze of the Bodach or to spend excess tribute to summon a minion of the King in the Mists. Ultimatum may offer a 'double down' option to run twice as many rounds.

Background

Path of Exile 2 is preparing for launch in December. Grinding Gear Games has said both Path of Exile games will run simultaneously with seasonal leagues alternating between them. The Mirage mechanic was first introduced with the 3.28 league.
