PlatinumGames' Inaba Hints at Plans to Expand Bayonetta

At Tokyo Game Show, PlatinumGames president Atsushi Inaba said he wants to broaden Bayonetta's world, during a talk tied to a Stellar Blade costume crossover.

PlatinumGames president Atsushi Inaba has hinted that he wants to expand the Bayonetta franchise and broaden the character's world, according to Eurogamer. He made the comments during a Tokyo Game Show discussion with Shift Up CEO Kim Hyung-tae.

The talk was held to mark four Bayonetta-themed costumes coming to Stellar Blade Complete Edition on Nintendo Switch 2, which are due this November. During the conversation, Kim asked half-jokingly whether he could design characters for the next Bayonetta entry.

Inaba declined to give specifics about a future Bayonetta game, telling Famitsu to wait and see. PlatinumGames has not announced a new title in the series.

The franchise's future has been an open question. In October 2023, series creator Hideki Kamiya left PlatinumGames and said he had envisioned Bayonetta as a nine-part saga he might take "to the grave" with him. In August 2024, Bayonetta's Japanese voice actress, Atsuko Tanaka, died aged 61.
