PlatinumGames Says It Still Wants More Bayonetta

Studio head Atsushi Inaba told Famitsu PlatinumGames has a strong desire to further develop Bayonetta's character and expand her world.

PlatinumGames head Atsushi Inaba said in an interview with Japanese magazine Famitsu that the studio has a strong desire to further develop the character of Bayonetta and expand her world, according to gamesradar.com.

Asked about further games in the series, Inaba said he cannot really answer right now. He asked fans to look forward to seeing what form future Bayonetta projects take.

Bayonetta first launched in 2009 on Xbox 360 and PS3. Two direct sequels and a spin-off prequel were released exclusively on Nintendo consoles, with 2023's Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon — which may not be where things end.

Series co-creator Hideki Kamiya left PlatinumGames in 2023 and opened his own studio to work on Okami 2, citing disagreements with the studio's direction. Bayonetta Origins director Abebe Tinari, Bayonetta 3 director Yusuke Miyata, Astral Chain director Takahisa Taura, Metal Gear Rising director Kenji Saito have also left in recent years.

Bayonetta has appeared in other titles including Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Stellar Blade. Mass Effect star Jennifer Hale has said she would love to play Bayonetta again.
