Forgotten Pokémon card collection sells for £1.56 million in UK
Ewbank's Auctions called the anonymous retiree's sale the UK's most valuable trading card auction ever; a Legendary Collection Master Set led the lots at £100,000.
A retired British decorator from Woking, England, sold his Pokémon card collection at Ewbank's Auctions for £1.56 million (about $2 million), the auction house said. Ewbank's described it as the UK's most valuable trading card auction ever, according to polygon.com.
The top lot was a Legendary Collection Complete Master Set, which sold for £100,000. Another set the seller had previously bought on eBay for £300 sold for £75,000 at the auction.
The seller remained anonymous and said the collection had been stored untouched since his son collected cards in the late 1990s. His son began collecting and swapping Pokémon cards at school during that period.
Ewbank's head of trading cards James Spooner and owner Andrew Ewbank both commented on the collection's mint condition and completeness.

Earlier in 2026, content creator Logan Paul sold a PSA 10 Pikachu Illustrator card for $16.49 million, the most ever paid for a trading card; only 39 to 41 copies were printed. The Legendary Collection was released in 2002.
