Pokémon Center London to open in 2029, first of global stores

The Pokémon Company says the London branch is the first of several permanent stores planned worldwide, with no other markets named yet.

The Pokémon Company has announced that a permanent Pokémon Center store will open in London in 2029. The company described the London branch as the first of several permanent stores it plans to open around the world, according to Kotaku.

No further countries or cities for the additional stores were named in the announcement, leaving the wider rollout without a published schedule beyond the London opening.

Gaku Susai, Chief Product and Experience Officer at The Pokémon Company International, gave a statement on the plans as part of the announcement.

Existing stores

The Pokémon Center in New York City was later converted into the Nintendo New York store, which continues to sell Pokémon merchandise and is known for its Poké Ball-shaped door handles.

In Asia, Pokémon Centers draw tourists, fans and scalpers, largely on the strength of exclusive merchandise and the large statues and displays installed in the shops. The London store would give the brand a permanent retail presence in Europe.
