Nintendo confirms Pokémon Colosseum for Switch 2 GameCube Classics

The GameCube RPG joins the Classics library, but Nintendo has not given a release date. Its sequel, Pokémon XD, is already available.

Nintendo has confirmed that Pokémon Colosseum will be added to the GameCube Classics library on Nintendo Switch 2, according to Screen Rant. The company did not give an estimated release date for the game.

Pokémon Colosseum joins a Classics lineup that already includes its sequel, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, which is available on the service now. That leaves the original entry as the outstanding title from the pair on Switch 2.

Developed for the GameCube and set in the desert region of Orre, Pokémon Colosseum puts players in control of Wes, a former member of Team Snagem. Alongside Rui, who can identify Shadow Pokémon, he works against Team Cipher, the group that darkens Pokémon hearts.

The game launched in the early 2000s and was a critical and commercial success. Its sequel, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, followed in 2005.

Nintendo first showed that Pokémon Colosseum would come to GameCube Classics on Switch 2 in a Nintendo Direct over a year before this article. Players on the r/PokemonColosseum forum have since speculated about why the game has been delayed while XD has already been released.
