Pokémon Home Adds 'GBA Games' Section After Ruby & Sapphire Footage

A Pokémon Home update on 7 October added a 'GBA games' section, while the Japanese Pokémon X account posted 30-second HD footage of Ruby & Sapphire.

A Pokémon Home update released on 7 October added a dedicated section labeled 'GBA games' for Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, and gave players of those games a free Celebi, ScreenRant reported. Users spotted the new section inside the Pokémon Home app.

The same week, the Japanese Pokémon Twitter/X account shared 30-second footage of Pokémon Ruby Version and Pokémon Sapphire Version running on an unknown emulator. The clip showed HD graphics and brighter colors than the original releases, which first appeared in 2002.

Nintendo and Game Freak have not officially confirmed that Pokémon Ruby Version and Pokémon Sapphire Version are coming to Nintendo Switch. The footage and the Pokémon Home section have not been accompanied by a formal announcement of Switch ports.

Why fans are watching the Game Boy Advance lineup

Pokémon Ruby Version and Pokémon Sapphire Version launched in 2002 for the Game Boy Advance and became the best-selling titles for that system. Remakes, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, followed in 2014.

Gen 3 games had previously been datamined and were believed to be heading to the Nintendo Switch, according to ScreenRant. The national Pokédex for Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen can only be completed with access to Gen 3 titles, but there is currently no compatibility between Game Boy Advance and Nintendo Switch.
