Pokémon TCG Pocket Slows Pack Releases, Adds Special Packs
DeNA outlined changes to Pokémon TCG Pocket ahead of its second anniversary, including a six-week booster cycle and First Partners Special Packs.
DeNA has announced a series of changes coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket as the game approaches its second anniversary at the end of this month, according to Kotaku.
The booster pack release cycle will change from approximately four weeks to roughly six weeks in the new series. Special Packs are also being introduced for the C series, opening with their own special pack stamina that recovers once a week. The first Special Pack set is called First Partners and will feature all 27 starter Pokémon.
Immersive Cards will become unlockable through missions based on completing collections, and 1-star promo cards will be added as mission rewards. Community Decks will let players build decks popular in the battling meta without external websites, while rental decks will no longer be limited to 10 uses and will become unlimited. Trading will be updated to show what cards a friend is missing and their complete wishlist.
Up to the B series, booster packs released on an approximately four-week cycle. Immersive Cards had pull rates said to be around 1 percent, and players could obtain them through pack points requiring 1500 points specific to the set, reached only by opening 300 packs. Rental decks were previously limited to 10 uses.
A 3GB update in July was supposed to improve app performance but seemed to make it worse. Two years ago, the article listed 10 things needing improvement, none of which have been addressed.
