ReVamp skips public Steam playtest over AI cloning fears
Digital Sun will start with a limited Discord playtest instead, citing worries about games being cloned and published early.
Digital Sun said ReVamp's first playtest will be a limited test on its Discord server rather than a wide public Steam playtest, citing concerns about games being reverse-engineered, cloned and published before release. The studio announced the decision on October 19, 2026, according to Kotaku.
Sign-ups for the Discord playtest remain open ahead of October 29. Digital Sun said it hopes to open a public playtest around January.
The developer pointed to recent cases of games being cloned with the help of AI tools; the name Claude Opus, a model from Anthropic, was cited in connection with the technology. ReVamp, described as a Dracula-based base-builder, is not due out until March 2027.
Last week, Alliance Arts said it cancelled plans for a Steam Next Fest demo for its game Drunken Goddess Reflux because of the same cloning technology.
Steam Next Fest begins later today with more than 8,000 demos, double the number from March's event.
