The Road of Dust and Sorrow gets expanded demo and December 3 date

Silver Lining Interactive and Painted Black Games doubled the demo's content on Steam and set a December 3, 2026 launch across five platforms.

Silver Lining Interactive and Painted Black Games released a larger free demo of The Road of Dust and Sorrow on Steam on October 16, and confirmed the full game will launch on December 3, 2026. The release covers Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

The new demo contains twice the content of the earlier version and expands the game's first act, according to gamebiz.jp. It includes the complete first act, which the studios say was refined using community feedback on the story and game systems.

The Road of Dust and Sorrow is a story-driven pixel-art horror game drawing on 1990s classics. It is set in a ruined world where a miracle crop has turned people into violent creatures known as Dusters.

Players control Katherine, who must protect her daughter Ava while searching for a safe haven, exploring ruined cities and solving environmental puzzles along the way.

From demo to full release

A demo of the game existed before this expanded version, which doubles its content. The full release is now dated for December 3, 2026 on all five platforms.
