Rockstar Details GTA 6 NPCs and American Dream Theme in Love Magazine

Writing director James Horton and narrative chief Robert Humphries discussed NPC design and the game's modern American Dream in the magazine's issue 27.

Rockstar Games discussed the design of non-player characters in Grand Theft Auto 6 and the game's take on the American Dream in an interview with Love Magazine, with excerpts shared by fans online. The magazine's issue featuring Jason and Lucia on the cover sold out quickly ahead of Love Magazine issue 27's release on Oct. 5, according to polygon.com.

Writing director James Horton said in the Love Magazine interview that there is no background in the game, only foreground players are not paying attention to. Rockstar said NPCs in Grand Theft Auto 6 have their own lives and can be known by listening to their conversations.

Senior vice president of narrative Robert Humphries said in the Love Magazine interview that the American Dream may be more modest now.

Rockstar sent teams to various parts of Florida to study locations, environments, people and culture for Grand Theft Auto 6. Players' choices affect who Jason becomes and change his reputation, with others reacting differently to him.

Rockstar previously built a detailed world that felt truly alive with Red Dead Redemption 2.
