SCRAP director releases series of short browser horror games

Wataru Yamamoto's Blinking Check drew more than 10 million impressions on X, and four more short horror games followed it.

SCRAP content director Wataru Yamamoto has been publishing a string of short horror games playable in roughly 1 to 2 minutes each since October, according to gamespark.jp. The browser-based titles have been released one after another on X.

The first, Blinking Check, went live on October 4. Players scan a group photo, looking for the person with their eyes closed and tapping them. Its announcement post drew about 31,000 likes and more than 10 million impressions.

Four more titles followed. Hashigo, released on October 12, has players climbing a ladder that stretches into the sky, and offers 7 different endings. Its announcement post collected about 29,000 likes, and the game drew 400,000 visitors at one point.

The most recent release at the time of writing is Keshigomu, published on October 18. Players use an eraser to rub out specified objects, an action that leads toward an unsettling conclusion.

Yamamoto has also published other works, including Traffic Survey and Pukupuku. Separately, his real escape game Escape from Kisaragi Station is currently running at the Real Escape Game Shibuya venue.

Puzzle roots

Before the horror shorts, Yamamoto had been posting content on X such as "web puzzles" and riddles whose answers turn out to be frightening.
