ShintoWorks releases free browser game Rei, Tashitokimashita.

The indie studio's ghost-photo fabrication game is about 30 minutes long, has three endings and includes no jump scares.

Japanese indie studio ShintoWorks released the free browser game Rei, Tashitokimashita. on October 24. It runs in a browser on PC and smartphones, according to news.denfaminicogamer.jp.

In the game, players take requests from a spectral photo fabrication center and instruct an AI on where, what and how to add a ghost to a photograph. They then add date stamps, scratches and blur by hand so the fabricated images look authentic.

The finished photos are shown on a TV ghost program, where studio commentators and psychics evaluate them, and that verdict decides the payment. Earnings can be put toward additional tools, though unintended things begin appearing in the photos as the work goes on.

ShintoWorks says the game takes about 30 minutes to complete and has three endings that branch depending on how the player earns money. It contains no jump scares, and monetized streams and gameplay videos are permitted.
