Ex-Techland Director Tymon Smektala Joins Bloober Team's Horror Label

Smektala becomes executive director of Broken Mirror Games, leading creative direction and the in-production Saw: Genesis and Onyx: The Dark Grip.

Tymon Smektala has joined Bloober Team as executive director of its horror imprint Broken Mirror Games, the studio announced. Smektala will lead the label's creative direction and portfolio, and work with external studios on its projects.

He joins the teams behind Saw: Genesis and Onyx: The Dark Grip, both of which are in production. Smektala said he is also seeking new horror projects and creative partnerships, according to Game Developer.

Broken Mirror Games was announced in 2024 as a co-development label under Bloober Team. It has released Star Trek: Infection and I Hate This Place.

Before the move, Smektala spent more than 13 years at Techland, most recently serving as franchise director for nearly four years. Techland created Dead Island in 2011 and the Dying Light series, which began in 2015, and released Dying Light: The Beast in 2025.

Bloober Team, founded in 2008, is known for Blair Witch, Layers of Fear and its Silent Hill 2 remake.
