SNL Sketches GTA 6 vs Ocarina of Time Remake Showdown
Former Nintendo employees Krysta Yang and Kit Ellis discussed the SNL sketch on their Kit and Krysta podcast, recalling an older Elon Musk Wario skit.
Saturday Night Live aired a sketch lampooning the November showdown between Grand Theft Auto 6 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, according to Eurogamer. In the sketch, Link and Jason argue about whose game is best.
Former Nintendo employees Krysta Yang and Kit Ellis discussed the sketch on the Kit and Krysta podcast. Yang said the sketch was generally fine but had some cringey moments. Ellis said Link's costume seemed custom-made for the remake.
The conversation turned to an older SNL sketch that featured Elon Musk dressed as Wario on trial for being evil, with mentions of Mario taking drugs and blurred-out Luigi dick pics. Yang said the older Wario sketch did not go over well.
Ellis said the Wario sketch came out of leftfield because no Mario or Wario game was releasing at that time, and that some of its subject matter was uncomfortable for Nintendo. Nintendo had nothing to do with the Wario sketch, though there is regular contact between Nintendo and SNL producers.
The Ocarina of Time remake was shown in some detail in September, ahead of its 5th November release. Its updated art style has been a topic of much debate. Grand Theft Auto 6 is set for release on 19th November.
