Square Enix launches Romancing SaGa 2 Yamanote Line puzzle game

Square Enix released a real-world puzzle-solving game across the Yamanote Line on October 16, 2026, with a free online puzzle available now.

Square Enix released the real-world puzzle-solving game 'Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven Enkan no Nyanya Eiyu powered by Catrip Yamanote Line' on October 16, 2026, according to gamebiz.jp.

The game begins at Shinjuku Station, where players challenge the Seven Heroes member Kzinssie, and allows free travel along the Yamanote Line in either direction. Each of the Seven Heroes appears at a designated station: Kzinssie at Shinjuku, Bokhohn at Shin-Okubo, Rocbouquet at Ikebukuro, Noel at Ueno, Subier at Ebisu, Dantarg at Gotanda and Wagnas at Shinagawa.

Solving puzzles in each area earns a digital stamp featuring cat artwork of that Seven Heroes member. The cat character 'Cat' was designed by artist Mikine Hori, known for the 'Grimms Notes' series character designs.

The puzzle kit costs 3,300 yen including tax and is sold at Square Enix e-STORE, SQUARE ENIX Cafe & Shop SHINJUKU, NewDays at Yamanote Line stations and elsewhere. Estimated play time is about 4 hours or more, and a story-skip function becomes available after clearing the puzzle. Early purchasers receive one of seven random 'Seven Heroes Special Stickers' while supplies last.

The game is linked with JR East's 'JRE WALLET' app, allowing players to earn digital coupons usable at partner stores along the Yamanote Line. An X campaign runs from October 16 to October 30, 2026, with five winners receiving a Special Main Visual Poster. A special website opened the same day, offering a free puzzle, 'Hajimari no Nazo', that anyone can try without a kit.
