Square Enix warns of unauthorized logins to Square Enix Accounts

Square Enix says leaked credentials from other services were used, and that some accounts have already had login restrictions applied.

Square Enix posted a notice titled "Caution Regarding Unauthorized Access and Account Management" on The Lodestone, the official Final Fantasy XIV information site, warning that unauthorized logins to Square Enix Accounts are taking place. The notice was also shared through the official Final Fantasy XIV X account FFXIV_NEWS_JP (@FFXIV_NEWS_JP) on October 19, 2026, according to gamespark.jp.

The company said it has confirmed cases of unauthorized logins using email addresses or account IDs and passwords believed to have leaked from other companies' online services. Accounts suspected of unauthorized access have already had login restrictions applied to prevent further damage.

Users whose logins are restricted will receive an email at their registered address explaining how to lift the restriction. Square Enix asks them to reset their password before logging in.

One-time passwords recommended

The company recommends using a one-time password, which is valid only for a limited time and becomes invalid once used for a login. A free software token for smartphones is also offered.

Square Enix added that it may carry out a password reset for all Square Enix Accounts if unauthorized access increases further.
