Stranger Than Heaven Launches January 15, Gets Netflix Film

Sega streamed an in-depth "showbiz" video for Stranger Than Heaven, the game previously known by the codename Project Century, from Ryu ga Gotoku Studio. The presentation covered how players find musical inspiration, create songs, and promote shows within the game.

The title launches on January 15 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam, and will also be available through Game Pass.

The story follows Makoto Daito, a boy born to an American father and a Japanese mother, who travels from San Francisco to Japan. It moves through Japan's modern history across five settings: Kokura, Fukuoka in 1915; Kure, Hiroshima in 1929; Minami, Osaka in 1943; Atami, Shizuoka in 1951; and Kamurocho in Shinjuku, Tokyo in 1965.

The cast includes Yū Shirota as Makoto Daito, Snoop Dogg as Orpheus, Moeka Hoshi as Tae Matsumoto, Tori Kelly as Suzy Day, and Akio Ōtsuka as Heigo Yashima. Sega said it received formal consent from Bunta Sugawara's family to use his likeness for the character Genzo Iwaki.

Snoop Dogg, Satoshi Fujihara, Ado, and Tori Kelly perform the theme song "Stranger Than Heaven," which will get a release this year. The game is also inspiring a live-action film on Netflix, as reported by Anime News Network.

Separately, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties launched worldwide on February 12 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
