Summer Eternal reveals 500-page Anthology and player-owned governance model

Buyers of the book gain entry to the Players Non-Profit, which holds 5 percent of the studio and participates in its governance.

Summer Eternal, the studio formed by former Disco Elysium developers, has announced a 500-page Anthology, according to Eurogamer. The book is priced at €69 for the Standard edition and €99 for the Deluxe Firestarter bundle, which includes a vinyl and additional merch.

Buying anything from the studio, including the Anthology, entitles the buyer to join the Players Non-Profit community organisation. The non-profit owns 5 percent of Summer Eternal and participates in the studio's governance. The remaining 95 percent is divided between full-time workers, freelancers and investors.

The Players Non-Profit can summon a general Assembly to discuss a topic and use game revenue to organise events or support union work, as decided by its assembly of all members.

The Anthology covers Summer Eternal's development ideas and the politics of making games in 2026, and serves partly as a development diary about Red Rooster. It includes interviews with economists Yanis Varoufakis and Richard Wolff, science fiction author Ted Chiang, BioWare veterans Mark Darrah and David Gaider, and features worker-run organisation UVW-CWA and publication Aftermath. Peregrine Coast Press is also featured.

Studio's new game

Elsewhere, Summer Eternal has outlined a new game described as an 'incendiary RPG' that fuses text-heavy isometric role-playing games with the world-building and player agency of an immersive sim. It remains in development.
