Supermassive Games has laid off more than 70 employees, less than six months after the release of Directive 8020. The cuts were announced by IT and Facilities Director Frank Tindle on LinkedIn on October 5, according to Kotaku.
The layoffs affected developers, artists, producers, QA and operations staff across the studio.
The studio also said online multiplayer for Directive 8020 will be patched in sometime in October.
Earlier warning
In August, Supermassive Games warned that layoffs were coming, describing them as a necessary step to help ensure the sustainability of the company. The studio is known for 2022's The Quarry, 2024's The Casting of Frank Stone and The Dark Pictures Anthology.
Until Dawn is getting a sequel in 2027, developed by PlayStation studio Firesprite, not Supermassive Games.
