Switch Sports Resort Players Fall to Returning Champion Lucía
Clips of table tennis defeats to the Mii Champion are spreading online, as Mii NPCs make a partial return in the new game.
Players of Nintendo Switch Sports Resort are sharing clips and complaints about losing table tennis matches to the returning Mii Champion Lucía, according to Kotaku.
Lucía is back in the game as a Mii Champion. She previously held the table tennis Champion role in Wii Sports Resort, where she was the final NPC to defeat. Her first appearance was in the original Wii Sports, where she was a mediocre athlete.
Part of the frustration comes from how hard she is to beat. In Wii Sports Resort, Lucía was the Champion and the last NPC standing between players and a completed table tennis run.
Miis return, in part
Mii NPCs make a partial return in Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, and players can raise their frequency so they largely replace Sportsmates, the avatars that largely replaced Miis in Nintendo Switch Sports.
Fans had initially lamented the lack of Miis in Switch Sports Resort and criticized the Wuhu Island setting as being taken over by Sportsmates, after Nintendo announced the game in June 2026. The iconic Mii Champions from Wii Sports Resort have returned.
