THE FINALS Season 12 Adds First Solo Mode and Destruction Update
Nexon's Season 12 'PRIME TIME' update introduces Solo Showdown, True Sight, the Mimic Device and Dynamism 2.0 across three remastered maps.
Nexon announced that THE FINALS, developed by its subsidiary Embark Studios, received its Season 12 "PRIME TIME" update on 21 October 2026. The update adds the game's seventh mode and its first solo mode, along with new Light abilities, reworked destruction and three remastered maps.
Solo Showdown pits players against each other individually instead of in teams of 3, 5 or 8. Each round uses a different rule set, and players holding the least cash are eliminated when a round ends. The player with the most cash after the third and final round wins.
New gadgets and Light specialization
The Light body type gains a specialization called True Sight, a rework of the Thermal gadget that highlights enemies and deployables and can spot cloaked enemies. Two new gadgets join the sandbox: the Mimic Device, which lets players scan and disguise themselves as map objects such as explosive canisters, goo canisters, plants or chairs, some of which keep their functions; and the Position Swapper, which instantly swaps the player's position with a map object for ambushes or escapes.
The Dynamism 2.0 update adds progressive destruction layers, so buildings wobble and twist with connected debris instead of collapsing all at once, alongside new shockwaves and improved dust, wall cracks and explosion sounds. Smoke and gas effects now move to fit surrounding spaces, and explosion shockwaves can temporarily clear them.
Monaco, Seoul and Skyway Stadium were remastered with more objects, more detailed environments and livelier crowd presentation. The update also introduces customized commentary that includes player names in real-time broadcasts, and replaces the Sponsor system with Sponsor 3.0, which brings Sponsor Signature Play missions that raise World Tour rank, reworked contract and challenge rewards, unlockable sponsor stories and a new handler character.
THE FINALS launched in 2023 as a first-person team shooter built around destructible environments. According to game.donga.com, about 60% of THE FINALS players play alone without forming a party.
