Valor Mortis Launches Today on Xbox Series X|S, PC and Game Pass
One More Level's action game Valor Mortis is out now, and the studio has shared tips on posture breaks, scarce ammo and Ambers.
Valor Mortis is available today for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Game Pass, according to news.xbox.com. The game supports Xbox Play Anywhere.
Players control William, a young Englishman who joins Napoleon's cause. Combat centres on a posture meter: hits and parries break an enemy's posture, opening them up to heavy attacks or a finisher. Attack animations cannot be cancelled into a parry, and a counter-attack immediately after a block restores health lost while blocking.
Ammo is scarce, and shots are aimed at glowing weak points called lambent blisters. The Fire Transmutation sets enemies alight, and burning enemies can be finished. Ambers are equipable build modifiers slotted in at lanterns, with more slots unlocked as William levels up.
Amber builds to try
Marksman's Bane lets the player parry bullets and grants a pistol round for each successful bullet parry. Volatile End causes a damaging explosion when shooting an enemy weak point. Butcher's Carnage restores health with melee strikes but disables healing with Ferrofluid Flasks.
The studio also notes that exploration is rewarded, as later abilities open areas the player has already visited.
