Valorant Player Banned After Buying Used CPU With Hardware Ban

A German player says Riot's Vanguard flagged their used Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which had been blacklisted over the previous owner's cheating.

A German Valorant player was blocked from the game after buying a used AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor that carried a hardware ban from its previous owner, Kotaku reported.

Riot Games told the player that the CPU's ID or serial number is blacklisted in the Vanguard anti-cheat system. According to Riot, the chip was hit with a hardware ban on August 12 because the previous owner had allegedly used it to cheat in Valorant.

The player bought the used Ryzen 7 5800X3D on Kleinanzeigen in late September, a German marketplace often described as an eBay alternative.

Riot also informed the player that all parts in their rig had been similarly flagged, meaning that replacing the CPU alone would not resolve the ban.
