Aspyr Confirms Physical Editions of War in the North for PS5, Xbox, Switch 2

Aspyr has confirmed a new physical disc release of The Lord of the Rings: War in the North on PlayStation 5. Standard and Deluxe physical editions will be released via Limited Run Games, priced at $49.99 and $79.99 USD respectively, according to gamerant.com.

Pre-orders open on October 2, 2026 and close on December 13, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. The physical editions are available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.

The Standard Edition includes a disc (or a Switch 2 cartridge), a slipcover and the Wayfinder's Ledger booklet. The Deluxe Edition adds a steelbook case, a cloth map and a weathered letter with a foreword by Jed Brophy.

Aspyr said fans can expect more The Lord of the Rings games in 2026.

Return of a 2011 Title

War in the North first launched in 2011. At launch, some outlets called the game a commercial failure after it sold very few copies worldwide, and in 2018 it was removed from some digital storefronts, with many speculating licensing issues were behind it. In August 2026, the game returned with a new publisher and a digital re-release, and received positive user reviews. Aspyr shadow-dropped the Legacy Edition of War in the North on digital storefronts before the physical release was announced.
