Wizards of the Coast Announces God Packs for Magic: The Gathering
Starting in February 2027, Magic: The Gathering will introduce God Packs and remove foil common and uncommon cards from Play Boosters.
Wizards of the Coast has announced significant changes to Magic: The Gathering booster packs, including the introduction of "God Packs" beginning with the release of Nauctis: The Sunken Realm on February 1, 2027.
According to gamerant.com, these new God Packs will feature a high density of Rare or Mythic cards. They will be available in both Play Boosters and Collector Boosters, with pull rates set at 1-in-1,000 for Play Boosters and 1-in-300 for Collector Boosters.
Alongside the introduction of God Packs, the company is removing foil versions of Common and Uncommon cards from Play Booster packs starting in February 2027. Additionally, Japan Showcase cards will be added to the Play Booster lineup at that time.
These updates follow previous narrative developments in the game, such as the Reality Fracture set, which concluded a story arc that began in 2023 with the Wilds of Eldraine expansion. The character Jace was originally introduced in the Lorwyn expansion in 2007.
