Wizards to Reissue Zeta Set as 24-Hour Pre-Order in December

Wizards of the Coast will bring back The Zeta Set as a limited-time pre-order in December, with orders shipping in the second half of 2027.

Wizards of the Coast has announced that the Secret Lair x MSCHF: The Zeta Set will return as a limited-time pre-order. Fans will have a 24-hour window in December to place orders, with shipments expected in the second half of 2027.

The Zeta Set first launched on September 2, 2026, as a randomized booster product—the first of its kind for Magic: The Gathering—featuring cards that resembled pre-Alpha playtest cards. The release was plagued by technical issues, including queue problems, checkout errors, and missing confirmation emails. Despite a price of $19.92, copies quickly appeared on the aftermarket for over $600. Wizards of the Coast later apologized for the poor launch.

The reissue also echoes a recent Secret Lair release. In August, Wizards announced a 24-hour pre-order period for the Secret Lair Commander Deck: Hatsune Miku, with a small batch shipping immediately and later orders arriving in 2027. That approach mirrors the limited-print-run model Magic adopted for Secret Lair after shifting away from print-to-demand following complaints about slow order arrivals.
