World of Warcraft: Forever Launch Draws Most New Players in 15 Years

Blizzard says Forever is one of its strongest launches ever, and player JokerD hit the level cap in three days.

World of Warcraft: Forever, a throwback version of the game set in its first year with new content and quality-of-life improvements, has launched to one of the strongest debuts in Warcraft history, according to Blizzard. The company also reported one of the largest concurrent player counts ever for the franchise.

World of Warcraft VP Holly Longdale said Forever saw the most new players for a WoW launch in 15 years. The launch figures were reported by Kotaku.

Player Daniel Gobey, known in-game as JokerD, reached Forever's maximum level in three days, using shorter cooldowns on Undead characters. When he hit the milestone, a GM appeared, greeted his party and set off fireworks.

In 2019, Gobey was the first player to hit the level 60 cap when World of Warcraft Classic launched, using server quirks to speed his ascent.
