Blizzard Reworks World of Warcraft: Forever Skyborne Models, Sets SD Versions for Early 2027
Blizzard will soften no more: Skyborne elf models in World of Warcraft: Forever lose saturation and gain fur detail, with standard definition versions due in early 2027.
Blizzard Entertainment has announced visual changes to the Skyborne race in World of Warcraft: Forever, following community feedback on how the models look in game. Both versions of the Skyborne elves will be altered to better align with the rest of the title, according to Eurogamer.
The update targets three specific areas: removing the models' softness, lowering colour saturation, and adding more detailed fur textures. A blog post on the World of Warcraft website detailed the changes and included before-and-after comparison images.
Blizzard also confirmed that new standard definition Skyborne models are in the works, with a planned release in early 2027. No firm date was given beyond that window.
The announcement follows a recent episode of the official World of Warcraft: Forever podcast, in which senior game designer Josh "Aggrend" Greenfield acknowledged community feedback on the Skyborne character models but had nothing to announce at the time. Blizzard has separately lowered the rarity of dungeon loot so quest rewards aren't devalued, and changed the races' headshots in the character creator from Modern WoW's headshots to those found in Classic WoW. The game's server cap was also increased due to player demand.
World of Warcraft: Forever launches in full on 4 November 2026.
