Blizzard fixes name filter bug blocking "con" in WoW Forever
Community manager Randy Jordan said the restricted name list was overly strict because of a bug and that a fix is rolling out with realm restarts.
Blizzard has confirmed that a bug made the restricted name list in World of Warcraft Forever far stricter than intended, according to PCGamesN. Community manager Randy Jordan said the filter was blocking names that contained the three-letter string "con".
Jordan said Blizzard is rolling out a fix alongside realm restarts in each region, and encouraged players whose names were wrongly restricted to try again once the fix is live.
Early name reservations for World of Warcraft Forever opened this week and were limited to players who pre-ordered a paid edition. According to the background, the reservation system was temporarily taken offline after server struggles.
The naming system itself is a change for the series: World of Warcraft previously used a single-word character name setup, while Forever uses two names.
World of Warcraft Forever launches on Wednesday, November 4.
